Worth the Fall by Claudia Connor

I made it to 17 percent before I started feeling mentally drained. I actually felt tired for the lead, Abby. She has 4 kids (all under 6, I think) and a baby on the way.

Abby's husband, aka father to her 4 kids and unborn child, died in a plane crash. Not that Abby cares because he wasn't a good father to begin with. (She kinda makes this known early on.)
When I saw the cover of this book, I was expecting a hot, steamy novel. The cover is a little misleading. I believe it will attract readers but under false advertising, like the wonderbra.
The writing was good, but the overall plot sucked. There was no room to get to know Abby and Matt as a couple (or as individuals) because the 4 kids were always around. Charlie, Gracie, and Jack...I forget the other kid's name, which should tell you something. Every time you think something is about to happen, one of the kids starts babbling away and I'm not ashamed to admit I rolled my eyes. I found myself resenting these children.

I get that some people live this, er-the 4+ kids, but it doesn't work for a novel. To me they were distractions that stood in the way.

I had a moral struggle with this novel because I kinda hated these kids. They were so annoying.
Matt watch me.
Matt play with me.
Matt help me..
All I wanted was some alone time for the two leads, Abby and Matt. So they could actually get to know each other and have some one-on-one. As bad as this is going to sound, I felt like I was watching the bachelor and hoping Abby or Matt would get a rose. That rose symbolizing a date they would be able to share kidless.

I'm so sorry. God I know how this must sound. Like I hate kids or something. But I don't. I have a niece and I adore her. The problem here is Pregnant woman + 4 kids + Brad Pitt look alike = does not equal Angelina-like setting. Okay?

And even though Matt was a HOT Navy Seal, that still wasn't enough to keep me going. Not with Jack always "Hi Matt." Just no. Add on the constant descriptions of Abby taking care of these kids (feeding, cleaning, pacifying them ect...) And it really feels like you are reading a chore.
I'm sorry, but that's as blunt as I can put it. And it kills me because I had high hopes for this one. I can say the author knows how to write very well. I'm not sure if this was something her publisher wanted her to write, of an idea that she came up with her on own, but it didn't work.

I just don't know what else to say. It felt like a chore and there were too many kids running around. I knew the kids better than I knew the lead characters. And I didn't sign up for no Children's book, understand?
